Following the two back-to-back cancellations of its 2018 elections that would have ushered in the new corps of officers, the Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC) has released a new timetable for the process. To avoid any potential confusion as was reported previously, the new timetable is a comprehensive plan which clearly outlines the processing of eligible voters and proxies, as well as any concerns, complaints and corrections. However, no candidates have been announced. The LCC 2018 elections timetable (published below, verbatim) also includes the conduct of election day and beyond.
Tuesday, June 5th, 2018, 12:00PM: Deadline for New Application for Membership. Two (2) members of the executive council must sign all applications. Applications received after 12pm June 5th, 2018 will NOT be allowed to vote in the 2018 Elections. All are asked to respect the 12PM deadline to allow the office time to process the applications in order for the Executive Council to review.
Tuesday, June 5th, 2018, 5:30PM: Our monthly Executive Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 5th 2018 at the Liberia Chamber of Commerce at 5:30PM. The Executive Council will review and/or approve all NEW applications for membership. Again, ANY application received after 12pm June 5th, 2018 will NOT be allowed to vote in the 2018 Elections.
Wednesday, June 6th, 2018: A preliminary list of eligible voters and proxies will be published (email and website ONLY). Proxies signed for the April 30th elections will be honored. Concerns, complaints, and/or corrections must be submitted to the Secretariat by 12PM June 8th, 2018. Concerns, complaints and/or corrections received after 12PM June 8th, 2018 will be addressed on June 13th, 2018.
Friday, June 8th, 2018: Final Voters Roll & Proxies will be published on or before 5PM. Concerns, complaints and/or corrections received after 12PM June 8th, 2018 will be addressed on June 13th, 2018.
Tuesday, June 12, 2018: Annual General Meeting & Elections. Positions for the 2018/2019 Executive Council:
- President – One (1) member
- Members of the Council – Eleven (11) Members
- Arbitration Committee – Three (3) members
Wednesday, June 13, 2018: New Administration for the 2018/2019 Executive Council begins. The new corps of officers will decide on a date for a Special Meeting to elect from their own body the following:
- 1st Deputy Chairman
- 2nd Deputy Chairman
The term for the 2018/2019 Executive Council will expire the 1st Monday of February 2019, as prescribed by the By-Laws of the Chamber and agreed by the Executive Council on May 1st, 2018.
