Madam Johnson stresses the need for Buildal to work with the NHA.

The Acting Managing Director of the National Housing Authority (NHA), Madam Tonia D. Johnson will lead a team, including representative from Buildal Construction from Turkey to tour NHA construction sites in Brewerville and on Robertsfield Highway respectively.

Buildal Construction, according to its chairman and director general, Kamber Cifci, may be interested to build 30,000 affordable housing units in and around Liberia in line with President George Weah’s Pro-poor agenda to provide affordable housing units for the Liberian poor.

Mr. Cifci said that the Buildal Construction has the capacity to prefabricated housing units in the various sizes and that may suit the need of the Liberian poor.

The NHA and Buildal officials will tour the two sites so that the visitors can see what kind of houses are being built there and how they can work along with the government, through the NHA.

Madam Johnson, in a brief meeting on Monday, December 17, explained to the visitors the government’s determination to provide affordable housing units to Liberians.

Mr. Cifci said that Buildal is a young and energetic establishment, which is in line for being the first choice with its quality policy, strong team references.

“We have a flexible structure which can adapt itself to market conditions according to size and measure of the project,” Cifci said.

Madam Johnson said the visit to the two sites will afford the investors the opportunity to see the current projects being undertaken by the National Housing Authority.

She expressed appreciation for the investors’ visit and said the NHA will work with them to realize the government’s housing units’ objectives.

Patrick H. Deline, Acting Managing Director for technical services, said while the NHA appreciates Buildal representatives’ visit to see the opportunity that is available in the provision of affordable housing units in the country, visiting NHA sites will provide the visitors the chance to see what the NHA has to offer to builders.

Other NHA representatives who made comments at the meeting yesterday included architect Kollie Bombo, and J. Mofalee Davies.

Both Bombo and Davies spoke about the need for Buildal to create a concept document, considering the kind of houses that are built in Liberia. They noted that, while change is necessary, Buildal would be investing for a profit and therefore it would be strategically necessary to consider what Liberia has to offer and what they are bringing to invest in the country.
