A women’s group, the White House Organization, has been formed in the Welcome Gate Community in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County. The formation of the group was followed by the election of its officers that will steer the organization’s affairs going forward.

Those elected are Madam Esther Dounous, president; Isaac Sokan, vice president; Roland T. Sayweh, secretary; Mary Page, treasurer; John Kratee, speaker; Achie Boy Weekie, chaplain; and James Toegar, advisor.

The president, Madam Dounous, called on her colleagues to be united and forge ahead to uplift the organization.

She said the White House Organization is a not-for-profit, non-political, humanitarian organization.

“We formed this organization to cater to the wellbeing of our fellow women and also to speak with one voice,” she said.

Currently, the organization has a membership of over 400 women and some men, according to Madam Dounous.

She appealed to the county leadership, the Legislative Caucus and other organizations and personalities for support to empower the group.
