Almost two years after being vandalized by angry mob in Ganta

Almost two years after the Alvino Hotel in Ganta City was vandalized by angry mobs on September 30, 2015, the hotel has taken a new look from the ongoing rehabilitation work, which is expected to be completed soon.

Speaking to the Daily Observer in Ganta recently, the proprietor, Prince Howard, put the cost of the ongoing renovation at over US$500,000, including finishing and furnishing.

He said the new Alvino Hotel will have 12 suites, 22 self contained rooms, conference rooms, bar and restaurant, “all up to international standard.”

Mr. Howard explained that two of the suites are designed for VIP guests and contain two rooms, with mini kitchens, living and dining rooms as well as porches.

“This new Alvino Hotel has two conference halls, one will host about 100 persons, while the other will host over 400 persons. We will have air conditioner and other facilities that belong in conference rooms here,” he said.

The hotel is fenced, at a height of about 10 feet, and has indoor parking, he added.

Alvino Hotel was vandalized by angry mobs in 2015 after a motorcyclist was brutally murdered around the Methodist Compound.

Upon the discovery of the cyclist’s body, Ganta citizens went on a rampage demanding justice, and ended up vandalizing the police station, LDEA office and businessman Prince Howard’s residence, hotel and mini mart.
