A 40-year-old man was reportedly attacked by suspected robbers who allegedly shot him in the right leg, thus wounding him in the toe. The incident occurred in the GSA Road Balawa Field Community on Saturday, November 24, 2018, around 12:15 a.m. as terrified residents trooped to the scene to identify with the victim.
Eyewitnesses informed the Daily Observer the following morning (Sunday) that the victim, Eramous Johnson, was attacked by two suspected robbers within the vicinity of his residence while returning home at that odd hour.
His family woke up to the news that armed robbers had attacked their father.
Another account said the two armed men with single-barrel guns, demanded from Johnson all that he had on him, including his money.
“Johnson refused, and a tussle ensued, during which he was shot in the right foot,” one eyewitness said. Johnson said after the shooting, the men ran away.
Neighbors, who rushed on the scene, later took Johnson to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Sinkor, where he was treated and discharged.
Although officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP), after a tip-off, immediately moved to the crime scene, they were unable to arrest any of the alleged perpetrators.
Police spokesman Moses Carter, who confirmed the information, said police have launched an investigation into the incident.
