The Grand Bassa County Chapter of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) has crossed over to Vice President Joseph Boakai.
At a well-attended ceremony in Buchanan city over the weekend, the ANC Bassa Chairman, Joshua Jacobs, expressed their full support for Boakai’s 2017 presidential bid.
Mr. Jacobs said the decision is based on their conviction that V.P. Boakai’s clean record makes him the best choice among the many candidates vying for the presidency.
Jacobs said he was crossing over with more than 100 members of the ANC Grand Bassa Chapter, including district coordinators, under the banner, “The Eagles for Joseph Boakai Presidency.”
Tamba Boakai, who is an executive of the V.P’s movement, received the defecting ANC members. He said the cross-over in Grand Bassa will go down in history as a remarkable decision.
Mr. Boakai promised the Vice President’s fullest support to Grand Bassa County and “the Eagles for Boakai.” He called on all Bassa citizens to join the Boakai bandwagon for a better Liberia.
For his part, the secretary general of the V.P’s movement, Roberts Kpadeh, assured the defecting ANC members that the movement will protect their respective political interests, and that they will never regret their decision to join the Boakai camp.
According to Kpadeh, the decision for the ANC Grand Bassa Chapter’s defection is based on their quest for transparency, accountability, good governance, national development, respect for human rights and free speech, which the Boakai movement represents.
