Ambassadors FC moved 5th on the Orange Women’s National League table on Saturday after a crucial 2-1 win against World Girls at the LFA Technical Center in Careysburg.
Skipper Kebbeh Lamin scored both goals — her first two — as Ambassadors came from a goal down to collect all three points.
The win was a come back for Ambassadors after they lost 2-1 in their previous league game against defending champions Earth Angels at the SKD in Paynesville.
It was a shocking defeat for World Girls that have been enjoying their winning streak since the resumption of the league from the County Meet Break.
Saturday’s match was both teams’ final for phase one of the league. Ambassadors now have 10 points from eight games, a point behind World Girls that sit fourth on the log with 11 points.
Earlier at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS), league leaders Determine Girls made it eight wins out of their eight games by closing the first half of the season with a 1-0 win against Senior Professional Sisters.
Success Gaye scored the match’s lone goal in the first half.
Determine Girls remain top of the table with eight points ahead of Blanco FC that are expected to play their final league game against defending champions Angels.
Both Blanco and Earth Angels are leveled on 16 points apiece and a win for either side will see them finishing phase one of the league in second place.
