The Nancy B. Doe Market came alive over the weekend as two Liberian women walked away with a brand-new Ford Figo car and a Hero motorbike respectively.

The two received their prizes during a special Orange music concert held as part of the 2017 MSME Conference organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Bendu Tolongo, a college student, was the first to receive her prize. The Hero motorbike was presented to her by Isaac Muthama, the Orange Liberia chief sales officer.

She was the 6th person to receive a motorbike in the Orange “This year, Christmas starts in October” promotion.

The previous week’s winner of the Hero motorbike was also a Liberian woman named Comfort Harris from Kakata, Margibi County.

Although neither of them knew how to operate a bike before winning, they both confided that they would learn to ride because owning a bike would significantly reduce their transportation costs.

“I’m a student,” said Bendu Tolongo, “and the cost of transportation to get to school is very high. At least with this bike I can put it in traffic to make money to pay my fees and when I need to go somewhere, it will take me there directly.”

The winner of the brand-new Ford Figo received her prize from the chief marketing officer of Orange Liberia, Noel Chateau.

Yah Domah, a resident of Duport Road in Paynesville who currently sells flour and donuts as her source of income, said she never imagined that she’d ever own a vehicle.

“Orange has made me a millionaire today,” she announced after receiving the keys to the car, “they did not give me one million dollars, but they gave me something I never thought I would have, so they have made me rich!”

The winners won the prizes as part of the ongoing ‘Christmas starts in October’ promotion. There are still two more cars, a Renault Logan and a Toyota 4×4 Rav4, and four Hero motorbikes to be won. Orange customers simply need to recharge a minimum of $1 per week to stand a chance to win the motorbike and to recharge two weeks in a row to stand a chance to win a car, according to a release from Orange yesterday.
