About 150 youth, members of Pursuit for Positive Action Youth Organization (PPAYO), have decided to embark on an ambitious program of investing in agriculture in Bong County.
A statement released by PPAYO recently said the chairman of the agriculture committee, Quincy D. Horace, disclosed that in keeping with their name they have decided to invest in agriculture in order to boost farming in the selected county.
He further explained that their first target is to plant pepper, corn and cassava, for which they acquired 30 acres of land and allotted L$5,400 and L$7,000 to purchase seedlings for pepper and corn.
Mr. Horace said the amount of L$12,400 has been earmarked for the entire process, while hoping for additional funding to be added in the near future.
Chairman Horace disclosed that the initial date for the commencement of the program is April 2016, during the rainy season, which is favorable for farming.
Mr. Horace said that PPAYO has further plans to extend its operations to other parts of the country in order to arouse interest in other young people to engage in farming to promote food security.
