10 political parties have expressed concern over Liberia’s continued hardship facing the country and its people.

MacDonald Wento, who read the press statement Yesterday January 3, 2020, on behalf of the 10 political parties said during these challenging times of Liberia’s democracy, they want to assure Liberians that they will endeavor to ensure that peace is sustained in Liberia and will continue to foster dialogue as the way to co-exist.

He indicated that as leaders of political parties, there is a need to work together to strengthen Liberia’s democracy and uphold the peace that everyone has labored for.

Mr. Wento said while these issues are cardinal to Liberia, he seized the moment to call on all Liberians to let peace reign. “In our estimation, there is no call greater than the advancement of peace in our motherland.

“Let this solemn plea resonate through the length and breadth of this nation, and the genuine demonstration for this quest we need to close ranks and submerge our individual interests, especially the supreme interest of our nation and the people,” Mr. Wento said.

According to him, they believed that this will serve as a release to the people of Liberia and will avert the unfavorable conditions that have the propensity to derail Liberia’s peace.

He called on the government to organize an inclusive national conference for all stakeholders because they are the custodians of the peace and democracy and must do everything to keep it.

Mr. Wento, standard bearer of the United People’s Party (UPP) in the 2017 elections, acknowledged the overwhelming support and timely intervention coming from the ECOWAS, European Union, United Nations, and the United States of America in the recent impasse between the Council of Patriots and the Government of Liberia, concerning the COP’s plan to stage a peaceful protest.

“Since the inception of this government, there have been accusations and counter-accusations in regard to the management of the economy, something we believed has not been addressed by this government,” the statement said.

The 10 political parties have called on the government and the CoP to use dialogue to ensure that peace is sustained at all times. The parties said continue protest will not address Liberia’s problems.

Mr. Wento said the government has failed to address the investigation of the lingering of L$16 billion that was printed by the Sirleaf administration, the US$25 million that was infused into the economy under the Weah administration, as well as the acute shortage of the Liberian currency in the economy.

The 10 political parties included Liberia Restoration Party (LRP), Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), Liberia National Union (LINU), United People’s Party (UPP), Change Democratic Action (CDA), Democratic Justice Party (DJP), Union of Liberian Democrat (ULD), People’s Unification Party (PUP), Redemption Democratic Congress (RDC) and Victory for Change Party (VCP).

  1. WAIT A MINUTE, ARE THESE POLITICAL PARTIES REALLY NOT AWARE WHENEVER YOU HAVE A COUNTRY WHERE CORRUPTION IS NOT A CRIME AT ALL THERE WILL BE MANY PRICES TO BE PAID BY THE CITIZENS OF THAT COUNTRY INCLUDING ECONOMIC HARDSHIP? AS LONG AS RAMPANT CORRUPTION IS NOT A CRIME AT ALL IN LIBERIA, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? THE VERY SAD TRUTH IS THE FEW INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE IN CONTROL AND CAN SEE THE MONEY WILL TAKE THE MONEY AND PUT IT IN THEIR POCKETS WHILE THE REST OF THE CITIZENS PERISH SLOWLY IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY, VERY SAD. ANYONE WHO HANDLES GOVERNMENT MONEY IN LIBERIA CAN UNCONDITIONALLY DECIDES TO BE CORRUPT AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT ANY FEAR, BECAUSE IT IS NOT A CRIME AT ALL TO BE CORRUPT IN LIBERIA, NO ONE CAN DISPUTE THAT. CORRUPTION IS IN OUR DNA HISTORICALLY. THERE IS NO WAY TO BE IN DENIAL, IT IS THE FACT HISTORY OF LIBERIA, SADLY. I CAN NOT IMAGINE WHEN RAMPANT CORRUPTION THAT CONTINUES TO EAT EVERY FABRIC OF THE LIBERIAN SOCIETY BECOMES A SERIOUS CRIME.
A COUNTRY WITH SO MANY FOOLS LIVING IN PARADISE (LIBERIA), THE ISSUE OF RAMPANT CORRUPTION WILL STILL WITH US FOREVER. (WATCH)

    • All Liberians and political parties Please leave weah allow until 2023. If You’re even 100 or 200 political parties talking, the man will not listen. Some mistake can’t be corrected until after a period of time. Let the man steal enough until 2023. Liberians will learn the next time.

  2. 2017 second round, didn’t they support President George Weah?
If any failures, they should President Weah.

Again, Liberia needs the best or better educated with the needed Know-Hows, Skillsets to move the country forward. Check my 2017 Platform. I had the best Plaftorm for how Liberia should improve her resources to joint the industrial world.
Liberian, it is very good that people will inform you about your backwardness but so called leader of such groups do not have the Technical Know-Hows to get you and your children going..
People like me went to school for 25+ years to have such Know-Hows to serve Liberia.
Do not tell me, us that education is NOT important by saying “da book we le eat?”
Ofcourse we MUST eat book. I challenge any Liberian on any debate.
We must eat books inorder to improve our resources for export.
We must eat books to have engineer, chemist to clearn our drinking waters so you can stop toilet waters, etc.
We must eat books to have civil engineers to built good roads for the country.
    ………, etc
    God bless us.

    • Hahahahahahahaha,
It to start in CLEAN CLOTHES, but end up in DIRTY CLOTHES.
Be mindful of those who repeat themselves. Something is not right.

    • Look the man did nothing for 3yrs as senator, what make anything thing he will listen to them. Even he can’t listen to outsiders, or the international community that are giving him support, what make you think he will listen to any Liberian or political parties.

    • Please stop writing these kind of stories. It will not help do anything or make any changes. The weah will not listen to anyone. And if Liberians insist he will say they want to over take him. You know US, EU, UN and AU will not listen to to Liberians when they man say over take. They want peace so they will come defend him even if no one wants him remove.

Please this kind of story is not good to post. You are even endangering the Political parties. Sabu unit will soon come for them. Mostly the speakers.

All you need to talk about are stories of how many persons needs help, how many kids need support, how can the support go directly to them without the govt touching it.
Not to say political parties say. This will mean to weah that political parties gather to overtake him. Just wait in few days he will say this. Or in his speech to the nation or somewhere.

  3. As long as weah can’t or will not listen to the cop, he will not listen to the political parties. Believe it or not. Cop finally making suggestions to help improve Liberia and weah thinks the guys wants to over take him, bring war, even with International community talking, the man refused to listen. The things cop were suggesting would help to change things around and give Liberia credibility. But weah can’t even say anything about one.
What do you think he will listen to the political parties that want to take his place in the next election. Impossible!!! So let they forget talking about bad economy and wait for the next election. The man will never listen to them infact he may even say the supporting cop and want to see him out so they can take over. Sabu unit will soon come for some of them.

Please leave weah along, after all most of you join to support the man in the last election. Please wait for 2023. If the people think weah is not doing the right things, they will not vote for him. As far as I concern weah is doing the right thing by stealing, and trying to kill people when they talk against him.
    Please leave weah along.
The man who didn’t listen to his parents to go to school, how will he listen to any other person.
Liberians are enjoying, that’s what they elected weah for. They know themselves. So let weah be for peace seek. If you don’t like him, don’t support him, he will not listen when you advice him. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry political parties. It’s over until 2023.

  4. Henry Costa ,Yeke Koluba and Senator Dillion initial plan was to overthrow President Weah in a Broad day light. After the international community interviene than before they switched plans. Why will you name a protest “Weah Step Down” and than you planned not to leave the street until step down. I believe cop should organize a political party and run in the 2023 election but if you keep pushing protest, protest a lot of you will died before you can think.
