    A group of young Liberians under the banner of Liberia Events & Marketing Services (LEMS) hosted its first basketball event to a mixed audience at the YMCA gym in Monrovia last Saturday.

    The one day charity event brought together expatriates and Liberians to play for charity and the well-attended event was graced by top entertainers, corporate professionals, students and sports personalities. In all 4 teams; Y-Lion, Y-Lion 2000 and two from Y-Midjets participated in the tournament. At the end of the fun packed basketball games, Y-Lion 2000 took the day, as winners.

    Speaking to reporters Mr. Levi Martian, Team Head of Liberia Events & Marketing Services (LEMS), explained the reason for the charity event. “It is to bring young people together to play for a charity cause, we sure to make this an annual event to bring some live in events in Liberia,” he said.

    He disclosed that the group will use the proceeds from the tournament to sponsor 10 kids and purchase materials for the program during this year’s vacation at the YMCA.

    The “LEMS-Charity Basketball Tournament” aimed to promote the image of the Monrovia YMCA Vacation Basketball Program, a program designed to develop the talents of young children who aspire to be career basketball players and also provide a platform to develop their skills in basketball in Liberia. The theme of the tournament is “GIVE BACK TO THE Y.”

    Meanwhile LEMS has extended thanks and appreciation to all those who came out to support the event, the level of support before, during and after, was overwhelming.

    Speaking to fans who came to the game, many expressed their delight about the event and wished such gathering was a regular event to network, and reduce stress as it was filled with flashback of old times .
