In Memoriam: Helena Flay Ylahday Quire and Sieh Wellington Keah

From left: Helena Flay Ylahday Quire (August 23, 1927 – September 2, 1990) and Sieh Wellington Keah (March 15, 1955 – September 2, 1990)

Sese Nylahday, you and your only son Sieh Wellington Keah, Sr. were taken away from us on September 2, 1990, during the Liberia senseless, evil, and cruel civil war. Today has made it 32 years since you were taken away and murdered in cold blood. Painfully, we did not find your bodies. The vacuum both of you left in my life will always remain while my heart aches daily. Even though time may heal wounds, I struggle daily with this wound. No matter what age, I will always love and miss you. There are no goodbyes for us, especially when I did not have the opportunity to locate your bodies and give you a proper burial, making it harder for me. I love both of you, and you will always be in my heart. I thank God for the strength He continues to give me through this painful journey.

In memoriam to you, Sese, Gyabolanders & Friends-US, a non-profit organization based in the USA, constructed the “Helena Flay Ylahday Quire Women Resource Center” in the Atlantic City of Garraway, Grand Kru County. I will always do all I can to keep your memories alive in a way that would make you proud.

May your souls rest in Perfect and Perpetual Peace, my dear beloved mother, and brother.

Love always,

Comfort Keah Itoka
