“Liberia’s Democracy Has Matured”

A nurse casts her vote at a polling place in Paynesville during the 2023 general elections

By Hon. Rupel E. Marshall, Sr.

Members of the Press,

My Fellow Liberians,

It is my candid opinion that Liberia’s democracy has matured, demonstrated by the comparatively peaceful manner in which the recent elections were conducted, the high turnout by Liberians, and the professionalism, transparency, and integrity shown by the National Elections Commission (NEC). I add my voice to the many others who praised the conduct of these elections.

President Weah, once again, has shown that he is a man of peace and that he puts the country above personal interests. It is my humble recommendation that President Weah be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Also, I recommend that Madam Davidetta Brown Lassanah, Chairperson of NEC, be considered for a peace award or an international professional award.

I congratulate Hon. Joseph N. Boakai for winning the Presidential race. May we, as a people and country, continue to enjoy peace, development, and prosperity.

Thank you.
