Liberian Women Converge in New York on Status of Women Confab

The Business for Peace Community Development Foundation (B4P CODEFOUND), a respected Liberian nonprofit organization with operations in both the United States and Liberia, is facilitating the participation of women and youth organizations from Liberia in the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York.

The event commenced on March 11th and will continue until March 22, 2024. The Liberian delegation includes government officials led by the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MOGCSP), members of the Women’s Legislative Caucus of Liberia, and representatives from various civil society organizations, such as Women NGO Secretariat of Liberia (WONGOSOL) and Sister Aid Liberia (SALI).

In conjunction with the CSW, the celebration will also feature the 4th edition of the Liberia-Diaspora Dialogue Women and Youth Forum (LDDWYF), focusing on “Rethinking Strategies for Accelerating the Empowerment of Women and Girls through Institutional Strengthening and Financing for Poverty Reduction.”

Over 250 participants from different countries, largely Liberia, Lebanon, France, Canada, Nigeria, Germany, and the United States, are expected to engage in the discussions, aiming to promote dialogue, localize the CSW, and provide opportunities for Liberian women and youth to exchange ideas and enhance their skills.

In New York, B4P CODEFOUND will facilitate networking and partnership-building efforts between the Staten Island Liberian Community Association (SILCA), the Liberian delegation, government officials, the New York City Council, the Attorney General’s Office, and other Liberian Community Associations in the United States.

Moreover, the Bong County Women and Youth Development Cooperation and partner organization Capacity for Youth has organized virtual participation for participants in Bomi County and Bong County to commemorate the CSW 68 and the Liberian-Diaspora Dialogue Women and Youth Forum. The events are organized in a hybrid format, with global coordination taking place from New York City. Attendees will gather to evaluate progress on gender equality, women empowerment, and the Sustainable Development Goals across various sectors.
