Liberian Reality Show to Air on DSTV Soon

Liberia's entertainment industry is ascending to new heights, with a reality show named and styled, "Housemates Liberia", which is expected to showcase the talents of Liberians to the rest of the world.

In this light, young Liberians are expected to showcase their respective talents in line with a set of criteria. The show, which is expected to be broadcast on DSTV Channel 399, will also raise the country's profile on the entertainment map.  African Young Voices (AYV) Television in Sierra Leone has now licensed to air the Housemates program on DSTV, an achievement that came to fruition on the 17th September 2021 at a well-attended and launches event, held at the media empire’s amphitheater.

Karishma Pelham Raad, chief executive officer of Housemates Liberia, told journalists at a press conference in Monrovia, that the show will offer Liberian companies and businesses the opportunities of great value for money including sponsorships and advertisements to reach out with their goods and services to existing and new customers across all counties of the country, as well as outside Liberia.

“My visit to Sierra Leone to hold meetings with our partners there for the show was very fruitful. Our partners in Sierra Leone are AYV TV and Africell. AYV TV airs on DSTV Channel 399. The top key component of the show is that it will be broadcast on DSTV Channel 399 to a wide audience across Africa. This will positively project Liberia to Africa and bring many benefits of tourism, entertainment, and business to the country,” she said.

According to her, the DSTV Channel 399 is available in all the 15 counties in Liberia. The Liberian people, culture, and all the counties will have significant inputs into the reality show. Karishma added the upcoming Reality TV Show is for all Liberians, and Liberians should own it and support it as their own." And I am committed to reaching out and seeking opportunities for my people and the entertainment sector,” she said.

The Housemates Liberia CEO said: “We are calling on everyone to work with us to make the show a success. This is about the Liberian people. I am just an ordinary driver who is blessed to be the gateway to push this Liberian entertainment show to the world.”

She stated that a major aspect of the discussions bordered on getting the TV Reality Show broadcast live on AYV on DSTV Channel 399, and this was agreed upon by CEO Anthony Navo, Jr.  She expressed excitement that all is being arranged for the inaugural reality TV Show to be broadcast live on DStv.

“As I have been saying here in Sierra Leone, the upcoming Reality TV Show is for all Liberians, and Liberians should own it and support it as their own. And I am committed to reaching out and seeking opportunities for my people and the entertainment sector,” she said. This milestone, other entertainers noted, is the first that AYV’s coming onboard DSTV materialized as a result of the collaboration between the Management of the Media Empire and MultiChoice Africa. Viewers could now watch AYV programs via DSTV Africa Channel 399.

If this goes through, Liberia will join Nigeria, Ghana, and Sierra Leone as the four countries in the West African sub-region to attain such a prestigious opportunity to showcase the country’s rich culture and creative talents on the DSTV platform, with close to 20 million subscribers across the continent.
