Liberia Women’s Division: Determine Girls Whip LEAD MFA, Ambassadors Off to Winning Start

Determine Girls, the defending league champions in the Orange women’s division started the 2022 league campaign over the weekend with a commanding 6-2 victory against LEAD Monrovia Football Academy, which had just been promoted.

Marthaline Moore scored twice, and Slyvia Payne, Mabinty Camara, Bountou Sylla, and Kantie Sayee also scored once apiece to help the defending league winners keep their unblemished record.

Determine Girls entered the new league season as champions of the WAFU Zone A CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers and winners of the 2022 LFA Super Cup.

They will represent Liberia at the second edition of the CAF women’s champions league which will take place in November in Morocco.

Last season’s runners-up Ambassadors FC also earned all three points in their opening match with a 2-1 win against DC Shooters, Thanks to goals from Maitta Morris and Edwardline Jackson.

In another match, the newly promoted Bassa Girls defeated the former back-to-back champions Earth Angels 2-0 to make their entrance into the elite division known.

Margibi-based Hippo FC enjoyed a narrow 1-0 win at home against World Girls at the Nancy B. Doe Stadium in Kakata.

Blanco FC and Senior Female Pro battled to a scoreless draw in the second kickoff at the ATS since neither team could afford to lose to open their new league.

Soccer Ambassadors recorded the first victory of the new league season by stunning City Academy 2-1 in an early morning kickoff at the ATS.

Instead of the previous season’s 10 teams, there are now 12 teams vying for the championship.
