…. Three suspects detained
Police in Nimba County are currently investigating the tragic murder of a 25-year-old woman in the vicinity of Ganta on November 23.
The woman’s body was discovered behind Nengbeyee, on the road to Pledehyee, with a deep cut in her throat.
Three suspects, police say, including the victim's boyfriend, Evin Yarsia, have been detained. The victim, Yournwu Cooper, was a mother of six, and her murder has left the community shocked and puzzled.
She had reportedly gone to the farm with her children on that day, making the discovery of her body even more distressing, as the farm was some distance away from the crime scene. The motive behind the killing remains unknown, the police say.
Meanwhile, community members are concerned about the brazen nature of the crime, as it occurred on a main road without anyone noticing.
“This is very surprising and frightening for us in this community for someone to be murdered in broad daylight on the main road without anyone knowing,” said an elderly woman.
This incident echoes a similar case from a year ago when a 45-year-old man went missing and was later found hanging in a decomposed state. The police previously launched an investigation into the death of this man, but details regarding any arrests are unclear.
Due to community tension over the latest incident, the three men currently in custody have been transferred to Sanniquellie for further investigation. The suspects include Evin Yasia, the victim's boyfriend, Lawrence Gono, and Sampson Dolo. As the investigation continues, the police say they remain committed to uncovering the truth behind this tragic incident.
