Liberia: Senator Joseph Purchases Gardnersville FC

According to reports, the team will be renamed Montserrado FC in the coming days.

Ahead of the 2022/23 Orange National League, Montserrado County Senator and President of Invincible Eleven (IE), Saah Joseph, has completed the purchase of 2nd division club, Gardnersville FC.

Gardnersville FC on Monday announced that it has reached a deal with Senator Joseph for the sale of the club and all its liabilities.

Gardnersville FC was a feeder team to 1st division side LISCR FC. With this latest development, it means that the team can now be promoted to the 1st division if they end the league season in a top spot, unlike in the past due to their status as a feeder team.

According to reports, the team will be renamed Montserrado FC in the coming days.

Sen. Joseph was appointed interim president of IE in October of 2021 and rallied support for the team from supporters in Liberia and abroad to invest in the team, securing the signatures of several players that helped the team survive relegation.

Joseph, according to the Gardnersville FC’s official page, visited and engaged the players and officials for the first time on Tuesday at their morning training ground.

“The club's new CEO was excited to meet with his team and said the team is going to be great,” a statement from the team said.

During his engagement with the team, the new club president reached a decision that all players and officials will be retained, and players will have the opportunity to secure professional contracts in and out of Liberia.

Joseph also disclosed that there is a foreign coach coming to work along with the current technical team “to look, develop and carry players out of the country.” Players will also have the opportunity to go to school.

The Montserrado Senator said he will kickstart with a gift of a 32-seater bus expected to be unveiled soon.
