Tickets are on sale for the most significant music awards program in Liberia—the 2023 MTN Liberia Music Awards (MLMA).
This event, held under the theme, LIB to the World, will promote Liberian music, arts, and culture at the EJS Ministerial Complex on November 25 from 5pm.
MLMA Project Lead, Jonathan Baker, said that the theme, 'LIB to the World', incorporates Lonestar Cell MTN's commitment to showcasing the world-class talent that Liberia possesses.
“Through the MTN Liberia Music Awards, we aim to amplify the voices of our artists and creators, inviting the world to experience the vibrant spirit of Liberia's musical landscape,” he said.
One voice amplified during the 2023 MLMAs is MTN Y’ello Star 3.0 Champion, Imoz Darblo who will make his debut amid Liberia's musical giants.
“I will be performing one of my newly recorded songs,“ said Mr. Darblo after receiving the MTN Yello Star 3.0 Grand Prize: a brand new JAC SUV.
The 2023 MLMAs will also feature live performances from the country's top artists including: Jzyno, MC Caro, Nuchie Meek, Takun J, Christoph the Change, King Dennis, J. BorBor, Jesse Pratt, Barsee, and Anitram.
This year, cash prizes have been attached to three awards, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year, will be given to the artists after the event.
MLMA Red Carpet Host, Alpha Xmas Bah, will interview artists and attendees alike on the Red Carpet from 5pm, while MLMA hosts Ezy Pain and Love Weah Grey and other prominent personalities will announce the 24 nomination categories which begin at 7pm.
Audiences can purchase tickets by dialing *456# or by visiting the Lonestar Cell MTN Head Office in Congo Town until 25 November at 9pm. Tickets are $25USD for regular admission and $50 USD for VIPs.
The nomination categories are Collaborator of the Year, Afro Pop song of the Year, Afro Pop Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, DJ of the year, Female Artist of the Year, Gospel Song of the year, Group of the Year, HipcoTrapCo Artist of the Year, Hip Hop Song of the Year, International Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, Reggae Dance Hall Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Traditional Gbema Artist, Video Director of the Year, Video of the Year, Outstanding Achievement Award and Lifetime Achievement Award.
