Liberia: Rep. Kolubah ‘Thrown Out’ for Accusing Senior Cabinet Members of Extra Marital Affairs

The gloves almost came off on the floor of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, when Montserrado County  District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah resisted being thrown out by the Acting Sergeant-at-Arms, Morris Gibson, on the order of Speaker Bhofal Chambers.

Rep. Yekeh was ordered out of  Session, when he (allegedly) accused Minister of Public Works, Madam Ruth Cooker-Collins and the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel F. McGill, of being  in an extra-marital affair. Adultery is a criminal offense under the law.

The Montserrado County lawmaker, during Tuesday's session, divulged that the Public Works Minister designate halted his ongoing construction in the Old Road community and seized his 500 bags of cement. According to Rep. Kolubah, the minister boasted that the House of Representatives cannot reverse her decision or intervene because of her extramarital affair with Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, McGill, who is also the Chief of Office Staff to President  George  M. Weah.

Rep. Kolubah made the startling revelation while making amendments for Tuesday's agenda. His words sent his lawmaker colleagues in an uproar, which prompted the Speaker to put him (Rep. Kolubah) to order (stop), but he blatantly refused and continued to allegedly accuse the two senior Cabinet Ministers of ‘hanky panky’, spewing invectives.

When Rep. Kolubah refused to come to order, Speaker Bhofal ordered him ‘kicked out. However, the interventions of his colleagues, including Reps. Richard Koon, Beyan Howard, and George Samah eased the tension, and they escorted him out.

Since  2018, it is the 4th time Rep. Kolubah has been thrown out of the House for disturbances.

He has also been subjected twice to the House's committee on rules, order, and administration. He was also suspended once but the Supreme Court reversed the House’s decision, stating he lawmaker was not given due process before the decision was taken.

Meanwhile, Rep. Kolubah also begged the indulgence of his colleagues to include his communication for the audit of the House of Representatives on the agenda as well as the revenue collection of the Invincible Sports Park should be managed by the lawful revenue authority to avoid corruption.

Rep. Kolubah has been calling for the highly impossible audit of the  House.    The Legislature since its inception has never been audited and its members highly considered such a move.

Following, the outburst of Rep. Kolubah, the House reverted to the executive (secret) session, thereby deferring Tuesday's agenda, including, the report of a nine-member Ad-Hoc (Specialized) Committee on its Visit to ArcelorMittal Liberia in Nimba County and communications from the General Auditing Commission (GAC) of the Auditor General’s final financial Statement Audit Reports on several projects taken by entities of the Liberian Government, covering the period July 1, 2019, thru June 30, 2021, among others.
