Liberia: President Weah to Deliver Keynote Address at High-Level Forest and Climate Resilience Conference

President George Weah will on Thursday, February 2, 2023, address a High-Level Forest and Climate Resilience conference dubbed “Liberia Forest and Climate Resilience Forum."

Liberia is hosting the conference at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, Paynesville.
As a Champion for Climate Change, President Weah is expected to reiterate his commitment to climate change and his proposed idea of an African Carbon Market. The Liberian Leader made the proposal in Glasgow (2021) at the Conference of Parties (COP26).

It has always been the position of the Liberian leader that the African Carbon Market should set the basis for concerted effort to address climate change while leveraging the associated opportunities for the socio-economic development of our people.

In the pending oration, the Liberian Chief Executive will urge the organizers and participants to endeavor and create an enabling environment for climate resilience in Liberia and at the same time set the tone for maximizing carbon sequestration.
