Liberia: PetroTrade Cup Finalists to be Decided Today

Muscat FC will welcome Tony FC after a one-all draw in the first leg.

The finalists of the 2021/2022 PetroTrade Cup will be decided today when four teams battle in two matches in the second-leg of the knockout-out cup semifinals.

Muscat will welcome their 2nd division counterparts Tony FC at the SKD Practice Pitch for the fourth time this season after playing out to a one-all draw in the first-leg.

It has been a dramatic showpiece between the two sides this season with the first-leg being no exception. Both teams needed the three minutes of added time in both halves, with Muscat being the luckiest to force Tony FC to a draw in the closing three minutes of the match.

A goalless draw will be a favourable result for home side Muscat, as they will progress to the final on the away goal rule.

“The semi-final shall be on a home and away basis. If the match ends in a draw, kicks from the penalty mark shall be taken to determine the winner. The away goal rule shall apply,” Chapter 4, Article 1, Section 3.0(e) of the LFA national league rules states.

Elsewhere, LISCR FC find themselves in a better position after securing a 3-0 away win against Nimba FC in the first-leg of the semifinals.

Nimba FC will need something special to overturn the 3-0 scoreline when they travel away to LISCR at the Tusa Field in Gardnersville.

The match is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
