Liberia: Murder She Wrote

“We are however inclined to believe that had the premises of any current government official or a former official with some level of interest been attacked, the government would have taken action to avert what happened to us,” the family said.

The landmark Movie Series, Murder She Wrote, based on the book, Murder She Wrote by Ms. Jessica Fletcher, provides lessons for Liberia in the wake of the news about murder at the home of Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott.

During the course of this month, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott made two public reports about the attacks on her by unknown persons in her home at night time. Then, few nights ago, there was another attack on her when one of her Daughters got murdered and some other persons living in her home got injured, while her Brewerville neighbors helped her escape through a window.

In our Struggle to solve societal problems in Liberia, what lessons can we learn from the Scott Case? First, the Rule of Law is not the dominant Rule in Liberia. Next is that family in many cases is not only by blood. Then, there is no Justice for the poor vast majority of the People of Liberia, as the illiterate but educated, trained and intelligent women marketers at the Waterside say: if the powers that be can treat the whole former Chief Justice of Liberia, a Founder and First President of the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL), the former Chairperson of the Constitutional Reform Commission of Liberia and a locally and globally acclaimed citizen of Liberia like the way Cllr. Scott is being treated, then there is no Rule of Law and no Justice for the poor person in Liberia". Thank God that the Daughter of Cllr. Scott is not by blood because it shows that Cllr. Scott is into relationship to help the Oppressed.

The frustration coming from the Rule of Outlaw has led to violence in Liberia, that at times, has taken on the forms of coup d'etat and civil war. Therefore, it is the duty of all people who love Liberia to work together to prevent violence. This work is most urgent now because the upcoming election is highly likely to be UNFAIR and such will result in violence. This violence MUST be prevented to Save Liberia!!!

To Save Liberia, the people who love Liberia MUST continue working together to raise awareness in ways that motivate people to use the Rule of Law to transform the prevailing UNFAIR electoral system, as managed by the National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia, into the FAIR electoral system. It is only through this transformation that persons with good records can be elected to bring in the system of Justice, the indispensable ingredient for Peace in Liberia and in any Country.
