Liberia: Local IT Company Launches Several Apps to Manage Service Delivery

Adullai Kamara, (Middle) launched the ePaD in collaboration with Health and LTA authorities.

Tamma Corporation, a local information technology ( IT) company, has launched several software applications to help manage service deliveries within the country.

The software applications include ePaD, (health management app), School-Mass (school management software), and eWallie (a mobile payment app). The ePaD and School-Mass software products were launched a week ago, while the eWallie has been in existence for some time.

The CEO of the company, Adullai Kamara, told journalists that each of the platforms provides unlimited access to information for people seeking needed services.

According to him, as with the ePaD, doctors and patients are able to easily access data about health.

“The ePaD is a patient centric app that you can have on your phone to use in order to track health records. Hospitals too can use the app to maintain proper records of patients. Every serious doctor will want to know the history of a patient. Even when outside the country, the doctor there will use the data from the app to diagnose the sickness and provide the right kind of treatment,” he said.

Kamara said after the launch of the products in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the products have now been made available for all government hospitals on a free of charge basis.

“We are now working with the Ministry when it comes to the rollout of the product.

He said that the app can also be used on a phone that is not a smartphone, but one  will have to first install the program on the smartphone.

“People will have to open an account on their smartphone. In the next few months we are working to print a card so that those without smartphones can show the card to the hospitals for doctors to access the records. The app can also give a patient a map of the location of the nearest clinic to attend for any kind of treatment. From the app, patients can get to know a specialized doctor for a particular treatment. This app will tell you which one of the hospitals in the area has a particular specialist. This is really, really revolutionary, and we are pleased to share it with the rest of the global community,” he explained.

Kamara expressed her conviction that the health product is going to make the country known to the rest of the world.

He mentioned that some business people outside the country have expressed interest in the new product.

“People can also use the app to sponsor people for hospital treatment. We have an insurance package on the platform that insurance companies can use. Politicians can also sponsor people for treatment, and those in the diaspora can use the app to sponsor people for treatment,” he explained.

Commenting on School-Mass (school management software), which is known as the Public Examination Preparatory Platform (PEPP), he said the app is designed to allow students to prepare for their exams at their own pace and convenience, from anywhere and at any time.

The PEPP software, developed by the Tamma Corporation, will be available to students starting on May 29th, 2023.

The platform will provide unlimited access to questions and answers from
various subjects, allowing students to practice and prepare for the WASSCE and WAEC exams.

The corporation said the app will instantly reveal whether the student passed or failed each question and will provide suggested answers for each question that the student fails.

This will enable students to repeat and practice as many times as possible until they feel confident for the real exams.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education believes that the results of the WASSCE and WAEC exams for Liberian students could be further improved if students were better prepared.

“The PEPP software is expected to assist the Ministry in monitoring the preparedness of students long before the exams, making timely interventions as necessary. The app will also be an enormous source of various data, allowing schools to see the performance of their students and their preparedness for the WASSCE and WAEC examinations,” a release from the Ministry has said.

The release said the PEPP software is a significant step towards improving the quality of education in Liberia, and the Ministry of Education and Tamma Corporation are committed to ensuring that Liberian students have access to the best educational resources available. “The launch of the PEPP software marks a new chapter in the history of education in Liberia, and the Ministry of Education and Tamma Corporation are excited to see the impact of this innovative technology on the academics,” the release added.
