Liberia: Liberty Wins National Athletics Club Championship after 6 Years

Liberty Athletics Club Celebrate Championship

Five teenage athletes of the Liberty Athletics Club (LAC) sensationally wowed the crowds, under the pretty bad weather (the rain) at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex and hugely contributed to the lifting of the National Club Championship after six (6) years.

On Saturday, the Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF), organizer and sponsor of the Annual National Club Championships, crowned LAC as winner of the 2022 National Club Championship, having accumulated 74 points from both male and female categories across nine (9) events.

The events were 1,500m, 800m, 400, 200m, 100m, long jump, shot put and relays (4x100m and 4x400m normal and mixed).

The 2021 Club Champion, Fast Track, emerged runner-up with 64 points, while Raphika got 15 points as 2nd runner-up.

The LAF National Club Championship aims to spot hidden talents amongst clubs to form part of the LAF local and national teams to compete in international championships.
