Liberia: LFA to Dedicate US$1.5M Headquarters Today

Liberia Football Association newly constructed headquarters

The Mustapha Raji administration of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) continues to place a high priority on infrastructure, as evidenced by the numerous football infrastructures that stand as a testament to this fact.

Since the foundation of the LFA in 1936, the national football governing body, with support from FIFA, will open its new headquarters on Friday, April 28, marking the first time the football association has owned a headquarters.

The new headquarters project, which was drafted by Musa Bility’s administration, is valued at US$1.5 million. The new football house is located in the Swankamore Community, on SKD Boulevard in Congo Town.

The project's funding came from FIFA as part of its “FIFA Forward 2.0 Program”, a football development initiative that aims to provide each member association and the six confederations with comprehensive, individually tailored support for the development of football.

According to a release from the LFA, the chief patron of sports, George Weah, will dedicate the milestone project.

“The three-story elevation, which is designed with an extended conference hall at its foot, will house the LFA's staff, including office space designated for members of the Executive Committee and the Technical Department, which includes a number of national teams,” the LFA said

When Raji and his executive committee took office in 2018, they decided it would be wise to relocate their headquarters from Benson Street, “where we were paying US$25,000 annually to the ATS”, before starting the new headquarters project. This was after paying rental fees for office space for a number of years.

In April 2021, the LFA officially broke ground for the headquarters, a project that was carried out by CESAF-Liberia Limited.

“We are happy that the new headquarters will host the entire workforce of the FA, giving us room to improve and partition the Antoinette Tubman Stadium so that the facility can meet up with the basic requirements to host international matches,” Mr. Raji told journalists following one of his inspection tours at the project site.

Attendees at today’s dedication ceremony will include representatives from FIFA, CAF, sponsors of the LFA, legendary players of the national football team, clubs, and others involved in football.
