Liberia: Jasper Benfelix Joins Nimba Kwado as New Head Coach

Coach Benfelix celebrates with his first-ever LFA 2nd division title he won with Cece United as Head Coach at the end of the 2021/22 league season

After guiding Cece United to their historic 2nd division triumph, Coach Jasper Benfilx has joined Nimba Kwado as the new head coach.

Coach Benfelix will lead the Nimba-based club for the next two seasons after signing a fresh two-year deal. Kwado parted ways with former head coach Korvy Kollie after the team finished 5th at the end of the 2021/2022 Orange 1st division league season.

The team had a great start to the season and maintained their impressive form and were just three points away from the league leaders with five games to spare, but eventually slipped, thus missing out on the title.

Benfelix, a CAF License B holder, joins the team with over a decade of coaching experience. He has coached several teams in Liberia including Fulani United, Mighty Barrolle, Keitrace FC, and women’s division sides Pro Sisters and Earth Angels.

The CAF License B holder was one of few coaches that were assigned to women’s division clubs by the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to provide coaching guidance during the previous league season.

Benfelix led Earth Angels to finish as runners-up in the league and helped the club retain the Petro Trade Cup when they defeated Sr. Female Professionals 1-0 in the final on May 22.

The new league season is set to kick off on August 24 with rehearsal matches (Super Cups) between 1st Division champions Watanga and Petro Trade Cup holders LISCR and also Determine Girls versus Ambassadors FC in the women’s division.

Kwado will kick off their campaign with a home fixture against Heaven Eleven at the Sanniquellie Sports Pitch in Sanniquellie, Nimba County.
