Liberia Holds 2nd African Regional Leadership Development Conference

Benedict Tokpa Danuweli: “Liberia will be hosting the 2nd 3T African Regional Leadership Development Conference, of EQUIP Leadership.”

More than 300 participants from the government, civil society organizations including faith-based institutions, the youth, private sector and the media are expected to converge in Monrovia for the 2nd African Regional Leadership Development Conference.

The conference is aimed at reflecting together on issues affecting national development. It is also intended to bring together change makers from all over Africa, to develop new strategies to amplify the awareness of issues around leadership on the continent, and leading transformation in their nations through the EQUIP Beyond Success program.

EQUIP Leadership is a non-profit organization that empowers coaches, trainers, speakers and professionals seeking to add value to others and become top leaders as owners of their respective businesses and in their communities.

It was founded in 1996 by Dr. John C. Maxwell, an internationally respected leadership expert and author who has sold more than 21 million books on Leadership.

Since 2018, EQUIP has been working in Liberia through its Beyond Success Program (BSP), which organizes Round Tables that promote personal growth, organizational and institutional reforms. EQUIP’s work in Liberia has impacted more than 10,000 Liberians across different sectors and is making significant efforts to reach out to more than 125,000 people through its strategic plan in the next five years.

This year’s regional Transformational Conference is held under the theme “Leading with Integrity; Transformation Begins with Me." To further expand the impact, Liberia will be introducing the community service component for the first time, as over 48 foreign delegates will join the local team in community service in Liberia.

Speaking at a news conference in Monrovia, Benedict Tokpa Danuweli, National Coordinator, EQUIP Liberia, told journalists that the three days event begins from the 16th to the 18th of November 2022. “Liberia will be hosting the 2nd 3T African Regional Leadership Development Conference, of EQUIP Leadership,” said Danuweli.

He disclosed that John Griffin and Ray Popham, members of the John Maxwell Team from the USA, along with more than 40 delegates from the EQUIP team in Africa, are also expected to take part in the conference.

It may be recalled that in 2021 the conference was held in Tanzania, and brought together change makers from all over Africa, to develop new strategies to amplify the awareness on issues around leadership on the continent, and leading transformation in their nations through the EQUIP Beyond Success program.

The conference, which is expected to kick off on November 16 in Monrovia, will feature dialogues with students, community-based leaders and disadvantaged young people of Liberia, in reflection of what it means for them to learn values and lead with integrity; transformation begins with me.

The conference will convene over 200 young people and will benefit from the community service. Vice President, Jewel Howard Taylor is expected to attend the opening ceremony, while the Attorney General of Liberia and acting Chair of the Cabinet, Cllr. F. Musah Dean, is also expected to attend the conference and serve as the guest of honor during the workshop and awards night.
