Catherine Lewis.

As the issue of mysterious deaths continue to perplex Liberians, a girl, believed to be in her 12-year has reportedly committed suicide in Gio’s Town, Grand Bassa County.

According to a report, 12-year-old Catherine Lewis was discovered hanging in her Grandmother's house on Monday afternoon April 18.

It was gathered that the deceased was denied access to food from April 17 -18, by her grandmother, Judy Lewis, for allegedly refusing to draw water in the house.

The grandmother allegedly let the deceased (Catherine Lewis) go hungry for hours and went for a meeting, but returned and allegedly discovered her dranddaughter hanging in the house dead.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that the grandmother is the actual cause of the death of the child, due to her continuous refusal to provide food for the child.

An eyewitness who asked not to be named explained that they got the information after the grandmother and others  tried to allegedly bury the child on their own without consulting the police.

Our source added that the family of the deceased allegedly attempted taking the body to a nearby town for burial.

However, the case was transferred to the Palmbay Police Station as investigation into the mysterious death of Catherine Lewis continues.
