Liberia: Former Pres. Sirleaf Among TIME 2023 Honorees

Former president of Liberia, is founder of the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development. In 2007, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civil award, for courage and commitment to expanding freedom and improving lives. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011.

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former president of Liberia and 2011 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, will be awarded at the TIME100 Impact Awards Africa ceremony on Nov 17, 2023, at the Kigali Convention Center for promoting women's leadership.

Sirleaf, who was elected as the first female head of state in Liberia and Africa, will be honored alongside scientists, CEOs, artists, activists, pop stars, and politicians who are moving their world forward.  

The ceremony recognizes leaders who, through sustained effort, have done extraordinary work to shape the future of their industries and the world at large.

“This spring’s honorees range from the former first lady who has spent decades fighting for women’s and children’s rights to a prolific filmmaker and producer who reimagined how we tell stories.”
