Liberia: CHON Donates Food Items to Liberian Orphanage

The Christ the Hope of Nation (CHON) Church, based in the United States of America and Nigeria, has donated rice and some other food items to a Liberian orphanage.

The donation, which took place on Saturday, September 23, was done at the Great Commission Orphanage Home in Chicken Soup Factory, Montserrado County.

Dr. David Oni, founder and general overseer of the Christ the Hope of Nation (CHON) Church, USA, who presented the donated items, told the orphans that though they do not have an earthly father, they have God who is their heavenly father that is thinking about them.

He added that though the children are starting from the orphanage home, it does not mean that they do not have a future, because God has a plan for their future.

“I just want to encourage you to trust God,” he said. “I remember when I lost my dad, I was just two years old and I put my trust in God when I was thirteen years old and, up to now, God has never failed me. If you forget anything else, I want you to remember that God never fails.”

Oni expressed appreciation to the management of the Great Commission orphanage home for the good care that they are giving to the children.

He also extended appreciation to his supporting partners in the United States of America for all of the support that they continue to give in supporting his vision.

He said he prays to do more next time than what he has done for the orphans because they are the future of Liberians and the hope and future of Africa.

In addition, Oni told the Orphanage that the donation was just a little token provided by him and his wife and promised that they will continue to work with the orphanage home.

He further said he believes that his humanitarian work is rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ in John 3:16, because the gospel is based on love and if a person loves they should give.

“So, when we come to this nation,” he said, “we give the gospel and we shall have the love of God.”

He added that, in the same way God loves the world and gave His son, it is the same way he and his wife love the children and give to them, which is beyond just preaching. They support the children to make sure that they feel good and happy where they live.

“I think that there is a lot of work that needs to be done,” he said. “I think we need to give more and I think that the future of Liberia is these children, and if we refuse to take care of them, then we are not taking care of our future as a nation.”

Prince B. Mulbah, Director of Great Commission Orphanage Home, told the CHON that he believes his deceased parents, who founded the orphanage, are happy for the donation.

He added that, as hard as things are in Liberia, seeing someone take their hard earned money to give support means the person has a godly heart.

“On behalf of the staff and the children,” he said, “we want to say a very big thanks and we appreciate this donation. Wherever this one comes from, may God multiply it in abundance.

According to him, the CHON has been supporting the orphanage home from 2018 up to 2023.

He disclosed that CHON is very punctual in supporting the orphanage home and he also sees them like parents to the home.

“Our prayer is that God should grant them their heart’s desire,” he said, “and where they always take the little from before giving it to our orphanage, God should multiply it and bless them in abundance.”
