Liberia: CAF Appoints Cllr. Wleh on its Governance Committee

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Liberian lawyer Cllr. Kunkunyon Wleh Teh to its Governance Committee.

The Governance Committee deals with and advises the Executive on all CAF governance matters. Additionally, the committee shall establish a review sub-committee, which conducts and recommends the outcome of the eligibility review for a seat by any candidate to the CAF Executive Committee (except for the seats of the CAF President and FIFA Council Members, who are mainly subjected to the rules defined in the FIFA Statutes and in the governance regulations of FIFA). The committee shall also establish an ethics sub-committee in conformity with the CAF Ethics Code.

CAF, in the appointment letter dated November 29, said, “It is with great pleasure that we formally welcome you to the Confederation of African Football (‘CAF’) Governance Committee. The Executive Committee, under the leadership of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has unanimously passed a resolution confirming your appointment for a period of 4 years with effect from November 18, 2023.”

CAF further stated in its communication that Cllr. Wleh’s role is important in upholding the governance standards of CAF and that it is fully committed to supporting Atty. Wleh as he transitions into his new position.

Cllr. Wleh, Chairman of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Ethics Committee, serves as a member of the Executive Council of the Liberian National Bar Association, a commissioner of the Judiciary Inquiry Commission of the Supreme Court of Liberia, a lecturer at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia, and Chairman of the Appeals Committee for the National County Meet.
