The Assistant Minister for Culture at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) Louise McMillian has revealed that a world heritage tentative list workshop is expected soon.
In a statement to LIB Life, the Minister said the five-day workshop will be held in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Minister McMillian said, “The workshop aims at presenting possible sites for inscription on the World Heritage Properties.”
A short introduction will be given about the World Heritage Convention; the Operational Guidelines; the World Heritage List and a review the Tentative List Format for nomination dossier.
“This workshop is in the framework of the International Assistance for Liberia to have a world heritage site,” the Minister added.
She disclosed that one international expert from South Africa will attend along with three other Liberians who will lecture at the workshop as well as five other site managers.
The workshop will run from March 28th through April 1st and will be held at MICAT.
