LMA country representative Joseph Junior Teah in a statement has said, Former Nicki Minaj manager Ms. Deb Antney, has promised, along with other entertainment moguls, to scout Liberian artists at the end of this year’s Liberian Music Awards (LMA) ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia on June 27.
Teah said that the initiative is to ensure that promises made by LMA to widen the scope of the Liberian music industry is implemented.
“It’s our sacred responsibility to create opportunities for the development of the artists and industry,” he added.
He disclosed that Bone Cruser, along with U.S. -based Liberian music tycoon James Elbert Philips (LRoc) and Musiq Soulchild, will grace the program, adding that Sesac, a reputable music company, will have a representative in attendance.
“LMA has finalized arrangement with Light TV on Satcom to broadcast the event live and plans are underway with LIB24 to do the same,” he said, adding that “the project is geared towards giving fans the chance to witness the show live and at the very first opportunity.”
He also said that this year’s LMA artists who will perform at the program include Marie Nyenabo, Friday the Cellphone Man, D12, Douk De Lib, Lady Mouthy, JD Donzo, Roland Ross, Tracey Jones, Jyounkonde Suah, Pitty D’Best, Miss Menneh and Bucky Raw.
He explained that LMA remains grateful to fans for their participation during the voting period, adding, “It was because of their votes that the voting process was conducted successfully.” The voting process ended June 15.
Commenting on the visa denial saga, it is unfortunate that those affected would not be able to attend the award ceremony in the U.S. this year. “There was just not enough time to turn things around,” he said.
