The Introvert Poem

Introvert is NOT a bad word
It turns people off, so I’ve heard
I’ve only heard because I was not there
I was walking by myself somewhere
They ask why I don’t pay attention
As if my focus would ease their tension
You’re mean and selfish! I’ve been told
You’re distant, creepy, nasty and cold!
When they talk I pray for solitude
When they stop I smile in gratitude
I can’t wait to go home and lock my door
To grab a good book and lay on the floor
Crowds bring me aggravation
My only peace is isolation
An introvert I will always be
Alone and happy, forever free
