The organizer of one of the nation’s most prestigious awards, the National Excellence Awards (NEA), has revealed that he and his team are fully prepared to host the event next month.

In a statement, the National Coordinating Director (NCD) of this year’s NEA, Josiah Joekai Jr., said payments and all other arrangements for the award venue have been executed, while equipment and other materials needed to host a successful and standard event have arrived in the country.

“Securing the hall and finalizing all arrangements as well as the equipment is a clear manifestation that the stage is now set for Liberia’s utmost prestigious award.

“Also, production and erection of billboards across the country has commenced and will be completed in the next two weeks, along with bumper stickers, fliers, among others, which will be distributed across the country.

“Against this backdrop, we have overwhelmingly set December 16 as the date to honor heroes and heroines and role models whose immeasurable contributions to excellence is worthy of emulating,” Mr. Joekai Jr. said.

This year’s event, tagged “Leaders and Patriots,” signifies a defining period in the country’s democratic transition that requires ‘all hands on deck,’ he added.

In a relative development, the NCD said only Liberian artists will be performing at this year’s event because they have made significant progress in their respective creative fields.

“Consistent with our commitment to promote the creative sector, all of the artists that will be performing this year will be given hotel accommodation, assigned vehicles with chauffeurs, and compensation.

“Also, we will have Liberian fashion designers showcasing their amazing designs on the runway as our way of supporting the fashion industry,” he said.

The NEA honors outstanding members of the Liberian society whose exemplary life, professional efforts, and personal sacrifices deserve national recognition.
