The hit single ‘Mo Fire,’ produced by Liberian rap star Mr. Smith LIB Money and Nigerian hit producer JoPee, has skyrocketed, leaving the debut song at #10 spot on Sound City TV and spot #10 on the West Africa chart.
Mo Fire is the first Liberian music video to hit both charts, an endeavor Mr. Smith says he’s been working towards throughout his career.
Speaking with Mr. Smith LIB Money, who left for Nigeria back in June during the heat of the Ebola outbreak, he says he has been working on a new album called ‘The Street Music.’
“A few DSTV stations are playing my video. Hip TV and MTV already have a copy. Hopefully by next month I will blow up in Lagos by God’s power,” he added via facebook.
According to Mr. Smith, his ‘Mo Fire’ video can be seen live on Sound City TV every Saturday at 1p.m.
Before gaining recognition in Nigeria, Mr. Smith hosted a rap competition in 2013/2014 in which a winner, Incredible Y and runner up WIZKID Morgan were selected to be the next prodigies of Mr. Smith ENTERTAINMENT. There have been lingering doubts about their future stance with the entertainment label, but Mr. Smith assures that everything is okay and on course.
“I had big plans for the winners of Mr. Smith ENT rap competition 2013/2014. But given the Ebola outbreak, I couldn’t do anything back home. But I have a few new tracks, including a rapper from Kaka City called Pilipino, to drop with them soon. I haven’t signed them officially on paper yet but will surely do so on my return home. I will also launch a clothing line sometime this year and drop the ‘Street Music’ album in November 2015,” he added.
