LMA Awards Ends: Dash Coleman, Speedo and Ag Da Profit Win Big

U.S based Liberian singer Dash Coleman and rapper Speedo and Ag Da Profit were the big winners at the 3rd edition of Liberian Music Award held in Minnesota, USA, with Dash picking up four awards, including New Age Gbema Song of the Year, for the hit song Licenses Plate. With that win, Dash became the first artist ever to win four LMA awards in one night.

Other categories won by Dash include Video of the Year, Artist of The Year USA and Artist of the Year.

Speedo who is considered the fastest rapper in Liberia, won two awards, Artist of the Year Africa and Collaboration of the Year; and for Ag Da Profit, he won two: Freestyle of the Year and HipCo Rapper of the Year.

Sensational rapper Scientific, who won the Hip Hop Artist of Year, became the only rapper to win that category three times in a row.

Also for the first time in the history of the awards a live band performance segment was introduced, but only a few artists, like Georgee B, Bernice Blackie, Black Diamond, Alonzo, performed with the live band. The fact that the rest didn’t, can only be interpreted as they were unable to hold a note, as is required during live band performances. In other words, they can’t sing outside of their voices being propped in a studio.

According to members of the audience who spoke to LIB Life via Facebook, Georgee B and Bernice Blackie stole the show with stunning performances of their smash hits.

After winning the four awards, Dash said, “You all have no idea the admiration I have for the Liberian arts in music. So imagine how shocked I was last night when I received a call from my big brother in the business, Black Diamond, that I, Dash had won not one but four awards
“This is a true testimony that hard work and perseverance will yield the outcome you want to achieve in life. Thanks to everyone that campaigned with me, voted for me, those who continue to encourage me and promote my music,” the singer told LIB Life.

“I just want to give God the glory; he is able to do what no man can do. His favor and blessings that is upon me in any thing I do. Big respect to all my fans all over the world who took their time to vote for me, and support me until the end; God Bless you all more and more,” Speedo Posted on his Facebook page.

For Scientific he said winning the Hip Hop Artist of the Year for the third time in a row is an honor and owed his fans a lot for their continued support.
