After missing last year’s edition of Next Movies Star competition in Nigeria due to financial constraint, at long last actor E. Owusu Dahnsaw is flying this Friday to represent Liberia at the prestigious competition.
A communication sent to Dahnsaw confirming his nomination said: “Dear Mr.Dahnsaw, congratulations for being the lone representative of Liberia in this year’s Next Movie Star Competition.”
But the communication said further “You are to arrive in Nigeria on or before 9th November 2015 on a one-way ticket purchased by your team. The Management of the Next Movie Star Competition will cover the expense of your return ticket as and when due.”
The letter also said, “Due to the 24/7 television airing of the competition, you are to come to Nigeria with some basic items that you will need throughout the duration of the show. These items include traditional attire from Liberia, traditional wrappers, aerobics shoes (canvas/sneakers) and many more.”
Cautioning Dahnsaw the communication said: “Owing to the recent Ebola virus, all the above items must be brand new and it is expedient for you to have a successful stay in Nigeria during competition.”
The communication noted that apart from these items, he is expected to design an Ankara fabric that will depict where he is coming from. Because of the close-knitted timing of the competition, from the airport, he will be taken strictly by agents of the organizers to his hotel and will be provided no time for shopping.
“So buy all you need before boarding your flight to Nigeria. Congratulations once again, as we look forward to your arrival,” said the letter.
Liberia hasn’t claimed the competition since 2008, when Queen V represented Liberia and won with flying colors.
Dahnsaw said: “I believe Liberia can win this competition again with me as its representative. Going to Nigeria to represent the country of my birth is a dream come true and I must appreciate God for such an opportunity.”
“I’m going to win this year’s edition. I have practiced a lot to make sure that success become compulsory. I can’t win without the direct support of all Liberians, though, especially when the voting time reaches for both SMS and online.”
He added that even though he missed the previous competition due to some difficulties, he has never lost the courage to represent Liberia, and has promised to make Liberia pride.
Dahnsaw came to spotlight in the movie Dugbormar and has since attracted fans from all walks of life.
