LFA Increases Cash Prizes for First, Second Division Leagues

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has increased the prize money for the Orange First and Second division leagues for the 2021/22 league season.

Champions of the Orange 1st division league will receive US$20,000 as a cash prize plus medals.

During the previous season, champions of the First Division were rewarded L$1.6 million as cash prize, while runners-up received L$600,000.

Unlike the previous seasons that runners-up were rewarded cash prizes, the LFA has omitted the cash prize and medals for runners-up for the upcoming 2021 league season.

In the Second Division, the champions will now receive US$10,000, previously L$75,000, plus gold plated medals, while cash prize (L$450,000) and medals for the runners-up have been omitted by the football association as well.

Meanwhile, there were no changes in the cash prizes for winners and runners-up in the women’s division. The L$600,000 cash prize for winners and L$350,000 for runners-up were maintained for the 2021 league season.

The 2021/2022 Orange national league will officially commence this weekend with the traditional Super Cup Finals in both men’s and women’s divisions.

League champions LPRC Oilers and Petro Trade Cup champions Monrovia Club Breweries will face off in the men’s category, while women’s division champions Determine Girls will take on league cup winners Earth Engels in the women’s category at the Doris Williams Sports Stadium in Buchanan, Grand l be Bassa County on Sunday, October 31.

This will be followed by the commencement of 404 regular league matches in the first, second and upper women’s division leagues.
