LFA Distributes Supplies of FIFA Materials to Lower Women’s Division Clubs

The supply to the clubs is part of FIFA Women’s Development Program.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA), with support from FIFA on Wednesday, distributed a supply of FIFA Adidas materials valued over US$5,000 to the 12 teams in the women’s lower division league.

The supply to the clubs is part of FIFA Women’s Development Program that provides all 211-member associations with an opportunity to access additional resources, equipment and specialist technical expertise dedicated to women’s football.

Launched in September 2020, the program was introduced to further develop women’s football on a sustainable basis whilst simultaneously pushing it forward into the mainstream, according to FIFA.

It affords member associations to apply for support across eight key areas of women’s football development during the 2020-2023 period. The eight key areas include, Women’s Football Strategy, Women’s Football Campaign, League Development, Club Licensing, Capacity-Building for Administrators, Coach Education Scholarships, Coach Mentorship, and Women in Football Leadership.

Making a brief remark at the presentation ceremony, LFA President Mustapha Raji said the football association, through its Executive Committee and Women’s Development and Technical Committees, thought it wise to apply for the Club Licensing and League Development with emphasis on the lower women’s division league. “It is important to develop the lower league, a league that was introduced by this administration during last season to see how we can improve and make our women’s league more competitive,” President Raji said.

He lauded the past administrations of LFA for pushing the agenda of women’s football that his administration is in a new feature into women’s football to continuously push.Each of the 12 teams in the lower women’s division league a package comprising 20 pieces of footballs, 20 sets of jerseys, 18 pieces of bibs, 23 pairs of socks, three pairs of goalkeeper’s gloves and jerseys, and two pieces of materials bags.
