Konneh calls for parental support as LFA begins Classic Under-15 league

Acting Liberia Football Association (LFA) President Sekou Konneh has called on parents to support their children as part of football development.

Prof. Konneh thanked all parents, who are supporting their children’s career path in football.
He was speaking at the start of the LFA Classic under-15 academy league and talent development scheme at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex in Paynesville on 13 January.

“I am grateful to be here and part of history making as we launch this youth league. We have been asked why we didn’t start developing football from grassroots levels.

“My answer is that we are starting now. It is our hope that parents will be a support pillar for their children as we start the second edition of the under-15 league, preparing young footballers,” said Konneh.

For his part, Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie thanked the LFA for its continuous development of grassroots football.
“We are hoping that we will see a Liberian team at the under-17 Africa Cup of Nations or World Cup or a WAFU (West African Football Union) tournament and winning medals and laurels.

“And then we will look back and say this is the fruit of our labor that we started when we served the LFA,” said Quamie.
Tebeh and Ansu football academies drew 3-3 in the opening match.
