House Deputy Speaker and Representative of District#2, Grand Kru County Fornati Koffa on Friday, July 9, provided a cash amount of US$1,000 (L$170,000) to newly promoted second division club Cece United Football Academy as appreciation for the team’s recent progress.

Cece United, champions of the Montserrado 3rd division league, on June 25, 2021 became the first out of three clubs to secure promotion to the Orange Second Division League from the national 3rd division playoffs after a 2-1 win against Margibi 3rd division champions SUSA FC in their fourth match at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The national 3rd division playoffs comprised 32 teams (champions and runners-up) from the 15 sub-associations of the Liberia Football Association that were competing for three slots in the second division league.

Presenting the cash to the club at his Capitol Building Office, Deputy Speaker Koffa congratulated the team and said the cash donation was his way of identifying with the team and added that he will continue to monitor the team’s progress in the second division league.

“This is our own token to you of US$1,000 for the progress of your team and will continue to follow your team's progress. In Liberia and all over the world, sports is a unifying phenomenon and we are happy to participate in it,” Deputy Speaker Koffa said.

The donation was received by the CEO/Founder of Cece United Football Academy, Mr. Pawala Janyan and the club’s Vice President for Operations, Elizabeth Maga Nyandibo.

Receiving the cash donation, Mr. Janyan thanked the Deputy Speaker for the “timely gesture” as his team commences preparation for the upcoming Orange second division league.

“We say thank you, for this is very timely because preparing for the second division is something we have done before. This donation is going to be used for the right purpose and you can rest assured that you are going to get more good news about Cece United not just on the pitch, but also off the pitch,” Mr. Janyan said.
