Liberia women’s division champions Determine Girls’ Guinean striker, Hawa Conte, was spotted playing for Malian champions AS Mande on Monday in the CAF Women’s champions league currently ongoing in Egypt.

Conte played 54 minutes of the match before she was substituted. AS Mande lost 3-0 to Ghanaian champions Hasaacas Ladies, their second defeat in Group B at the 30 June Air Defense Stadium in Cairo.

According to the contract provided by Determine Girls, Conte still has two league seasons with the club after signing a three-season deal on September 28, 2020.

Surprisingly, Conte was spotted featuring for the AS Mande, something that claimed the attention of Determine Girls.

The club is said to have officially written to the Liberia Football Association for intervention, as they are only aware of Conte undergoing recovery in Guinea.

In July of this year, Conte was ruled out of Determine Girls’ squad for the West African Football Union (WAFU Zone ‘A’) CAF Women’s Champions League in Sao Vicente, Cape Verde, because she initially didn’t have a valid passport, a situation that was later resolved.

However, Conte still missed out on the trip because her Covid-19 test result wasn’t ready in time “and the airline was unable to find a connecting flight from Dakar to Praia and from Praia to Sao Vicente.”

Determine Girls missed out on securing a ticket for the women’s champions league in Egypt after finishing third in the qualifying tournament.

AS Mande won the qualifying tournament and booked their ticket to the maiden edition of the champions league.

Since Determine Girls returned from Cape Verde, the last time the club posted about striker Conte was on October 20, informing their supporters and the public that the Guinean international has received a national team call-up along with her compatriot, Bontou Sylla, but missed the match “due to injury.”

Determine Girls recently won the Super Cup in Buchanan, Grand Bassa after defeating Earth Angels 7-0. They are due to kick off their regular league season campaign on Saturday, November 13, at the ATS.
