A couple of years ago some artists, like “LIB Ladies” hit maker G-Rize and “Kolo” hit maker Black Diamond, came together and decided to feed the homeless and mentally disabled in Monrovia during the Christmas season.
Warm homemade dishes wrapped in aluminum were all the less fortunate received on Christmas that year, with a promise that more would follow. But under the blank stares of many who received a plate, you could feel something, something like a love song.
The overwhelming feeling of knowing that you have just saved a life or touched someone in a way that they will never forget, feels like your “favorite love song.” Some might ask why. The only answer to that is, just like a favorite song, whenever you hear it playing you want to sing it over and over again.
“Every Christmas we should help them, which is my priority because I started with them four years ago, sharing love and I will continue until I can do more,” stated a popular Hottfm 107.9 DJ and contributor to LIB Life magazine.
This time around, there is a massive campaign through READ Foundation, a group of human rights advocates, in getting all of the necessary things in place to have a massive Christmas project for the homeless and less fortunate.
Needing everything from a venue, financial donations and ideas, CEO and founder of READ Foundation Jay Black stated that giving is a part of life and development.
“Giving someone who needs it right at that moment can change their life forever. Some people just need to be reminded what love feels like. On Christmas Day we will sing every Christmas carol to them,” he smiled.
Meanwhile, Black Diamond is expected in the country any day from now and will be performing at Soul Fresh’s “Million Man Fan” concert. So far, many are anxious to see what he will bring to the table for the Liberian people this time around. Last year he helped a family whose home was destroyed in a fire – the single mother of two has since gotten back on her feet.
We were unable to get a statement from Black Diamond as he might be at some airport terminal on his way to Liberia. But keep reading for updates on the Christmas surprise for the homeless. Seasons greetings from me to you all!
