Team Liberia will return home with four bronze medals from the just ended Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Region II U-20 Championships held in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
The regional tournament was held from Saturday, Mary 29 thru Sunday, May 30.
Jonathan Tomah won two bronze (third place) medals in the 400m and 800m while his teammates Arthur Quaqua won a bronze in the 100m race, followed by Telvin Jallah also in the 200m.
Team Liberia’s lone female representative at the event, Nancy Topka was unlucky to not have won a medal, having finished 5th in the women’s 100m.
Coach Ernest Zeigler has described the performances of the three medalists as “superb” and indicated that Nancy Tokpah’s debut performance was “noticed” when she crossed the finish-line in the fifth place of the female 100m finals.
