Two highly experienced groups of US Certified Public Accountants (CPA) have teamed up to deliver, early next month, an intensive 4-day seminar on Financial Accounting & Reporting (GAAP VS. IFRS); Automated Accounting Systems; and How to become a US Certified Public Accountant. The purpose of this seminar is to assist in building the capacity of Liberian financial professionals by transferring knowledge in the above areas, with emphasis on Financial Accounting & Reporting (GAAP vs. IFRS), and Automated Accounting Systems.
The seminar is run jointly by GW & Associates (Certified Public Accountants) of Bowie, MD, USA and Wureh-Walters-Wureh (Liberia) Inc. (Certified Public Accountants) of Paynesville, Liberia. The presenters are Gabriel M. Wureh, CGFM, CPA and James A.B. Wureh II, CPA, both US-trained CPAs. Gabriel is also a Certified Governmental Financial Manager, licensed to practice in the State of Maryland in the United States, with more than 35 years experience in Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Automated Accounting Systems, and General Business Consultancy. James is currently licensed by the Liberian Institute of Certified Public Accountants with forty years of experience in Accounting, Auditing, Taxation and General Business Consulting.
According to the organizers, the seminar is mainly for Chief Financial Officers, Comptrollers, Accounting Directors and Managers, Accounting & Auditing Personnel, and Administrative Managers.
Some of the hot topics to be covered in this seminar will include fundamental principles of financial accounting and reporting; automated accounting systems (such as Quickbooks); and how to apply for, take and pass the US CPA Examination.
Scheduled for June 2 through 5, 2015 in the conference hall of Musu’s Corporation (Musu’s Spot) in Congo Town, Monrovia, the seminar will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. This is the first in a series of seminars to be held quarterly, the organizers say. The cost of the seminar is US$500 per participant, which includes breakfast, lunch and a binder of all course materials which can be used as a reference book.
