The Managing Director of the National Housing Authority (NHA) Duannah Siryon has said that President George Weah government still remains committed to building a vibrant economy that is resilient and robust enough to grow the private sector to produce Liberian-owned multinational companies.

He believes this will subsequently take Liberia from begging for aid and put the country in a situation of “Liberian beyond aid,” as the vision of the president is.

“You know and have seen the good work of our government as we have worked and continue to work on the fundamentals of the economy because we believe that an improved macro-economy is a basic requirement for stimulating the investments we need for the rapid expansion and growth of the Liberian economy,” Siryon said.

The NHA made these remarks at the dedication ceremony of the Siafa Express, a 100 percent Liberia-owned business entity, located on Broad and Johnson Streets. The Siafa Express is involved with Mini-Mart, Mini Bank, Western Union and Money Gram services, cafe and restaurant, magazine, newspapers and other services.

Siryon said such investment was not only critically important for the development of the Liberian economy but also germane for the improvement of the lives of the Liberian people through jobs creation and provision of basic services to the entire community.

He lauded the management and staff of the business center for their far-sightedness in establishing the business and disclosed that the economy of Liberia will be restored to its full potential, where all citizens will benefit equally from their nation’s resources.

The NHA Boss therefore called on Liberians not to just wait for a government job but must be empowered to own their own businesses and employ others.

“Through these self-empowerment initiatives, more Liberians will be able to pay their bills, send their children to school care for their families, travel if they desire,” he said.

The General Manager of Siafa Express, Munah Odell Doe Siafa, extended thanks to God for his many blessings and prayed that He gives her strength to continue as she embarks on establishing more businesses.

Giving a brief history of Siafa Express, Mrs. Siafa said the group was originally established in 2005 as an integrated marketing communication agency providing one-stop media and communication services to businesses at all levels. “Today, the Siafa group is evolving to become a holding company through the purchasing of local independent and profitable subsidiaries, such as Siafa Media Store, Siafa Express among others,” Mrs. Siryon said. She is the wife of the chief executive officer of Siafa Media Store, Charuk Siafa.

“Our restaurants provide a high standard of service; we are professional, fluid and fun with excellent products knowledge. Our mission is to provide low cost every day staples and our vision is to be the nation’s leading retailer of everyday goods and services,” Mrs. Siafa added.
