One of Liberia’s youngest entrepreneurs in Ganta City, Mr. Pharene Dekpa, is embarking on the construction of factory in the country in order to begin manufacturing some Liberian basic goods for the market.
Speaking to the Daily Observer in Ganta on 22nd September 2014, he said that based on experiences gathered from around the world, it is prudent to have more factories in the country for some of the goods we import to be produced right here in Liberia.
Mr. Pharene Dekpa, who began his business by selling from market to market, is now the CEO of DEKTA INC, a Liberia based business entity involved in multipurpose businesses, including the supplying dry cotton, plastic among other goods in Ganta and other parts of Liberia.
His entity has begun importing motorcycles for the market bearing his entity name, “DEKTA,” to the citizens’ admiration.
He said, his decision to import different motorcycles is to bring quality motorbikes into the market, looking at the terrain in our country.
“Our bikes we are importing are more durable than the Safari ones that we were import. Our bikes will bring new flavor into the market,” he said.
Mr. Dekpa also explained that the Ebola crisis is hampering businesses due to daily increase in prices of basic commodities such as rice, baking materials and among others.
He also lamented that monopoly given to some business entities in the country was hampering the importation of some essential goods, and this has caused a hike in the price of those goods. He did not name any business entity, but said many commodities are restricted to a certain business entities in Liberia.
Currently, the DEKTA Inc. is constructing a water factory in Ganta to boost the production of water in Nimba and this is said to be gaining momentum in Nimba.
“We have a bigger dream when it comes to factories. As soon as we complete the mineral water factory we will build another factory that will produce some goods that we import here,” he said.
However, Businessman Dekpah is calling on fellow business friends and the public at large to take all necessary Ebola Prevention very serious and abide by the Ministry of Health advice.
