Executive members of the Liberian Business Association Inc. (LIBA) have reaffirmed their support to Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, president of LIBA for his “visionary role over the past years at organization.”
The LIBA executives made their pledge over the weekend at the just ended third annual LIBA national convention, held under the theme, “Empowering Liberians to take charge of Liberian economy to create wealth for Liberians.” The event was attended by members from the 15 counties.
The executives said those who are calling for the removal of Kemayah should stop, because it is not against the law of the association and moreover he has done well for lots of business people, including the improvement of LIBA.
According to them, “the overall objective of the organization is to strengthen and modernize LIBA and promote the development of alternative financial service providers in rural and remote areas with the view to expand outreach within the underserved and non-served rural communities, which, he has done.”
The Executives, who represented 15 chapters of LIBA in the counties, said Kemayah’s leadership has brought pride to the association where LIBA has its chapters, equipped and set up functional offices in all the 15 counties.
In their eight-count resolution adopted and read by David K. Sembeh, vice president of LIBA, they said the constitution of LIBA, which is the guiding principle for the association, does not forbid its president or any elected official or member from participating actively in political activities.
“We the delegates attending this Annual National Convention which is the highest decision making body of the Liberian Business Association (LIBA) do hereby congratulate Mr. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. for his preferment as National Chairman of MOVEE,” the executives said in their resolution.
MOVEE is a new political party certificated by the National Elections Commission to contest the 2017 general and presidential elections.
The business executives said the discharge of the duties and responsibilities of Mr. Kemayah as the president of LIBA is more than a testimony and he will continue to ensure quality service delivery as president of LIBA, despite his new role as National chairman of MOVEE.
They indicated that the leadership role exhibited at the association has greatly enhanced the visibility of LIBA which today has generated much recognition and support from high profile international and national institutions like the United Nations development Program (UNDP).
In view of this, “we the delegates attending this 3rd Annual National Convention of the LIBA pledge our unflinching practical support to the continuation of his leadership as president of LIBA,” the delegates said.
Meanwhile, the delegates also validated a five year strategic plan of LIBA and are expected to shortly launch it in Monrovia.
